Plenty of new shows already debuted this season, but one of the most anticipated has to be The CW's midseason series Riverdale. Even though the network kept pretty mum on the official details leading up to Thursday's premiere, we do know quite a bit about the series. Here's the rundown on what you can expect from the show!
The CW dropped a first look at the show just before December. Dang, this looks intense.
The latest trailer is all about secrets, affairs, and murder.
Not only does Cole Sprouse's role as Jughead Jones mark his first TV appearance since Disney Channel's The Suite Life on Deck in 2011, but '80s star Molly Ringwald was added to the cast as Archie's mom. The show also features newcomers K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, and Ashleigh Murray as Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Josie, respectively.
The show is actually a live-action adaptation of Archie Comics, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year — but don't expect it to be as innocent. According to the show's official synopsis, the story will have a much darker spin on the popular comics as students from a small-town high school try to cope with the recent death of one of their classmates. Cue the teen drama!
Fans can rest assured that the show's pilot is in good hands. Not only is it written by Archie Comics' Chief Creative Officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, but it's also produced by Greg Berlanti, the man behind Dawson's Creek, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.
You can catch the show when it premieres on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
