This 9-Year-Old Double Amputee Just Made Her Modeling Debut at New York Fashion Week

Daisy-May Demetre is only 9 years old, and she's already taking off in her career as a model. The fifth-grader recently made history as the first double amputee to walk in a show at New York Fashion Week for children's fashion brand LuLu et GiGi.

As reported by CBS This Morning, Daisy-May was born with fibular hemimelia, a rare condition in which all or part of the fibular bone in the leg is missing, and was forced to have both of her legs amputated. According to her father, the Birmingham, England native first decided to pursue a modeling career when the two of them saw an ad for a modeling agency representing disabled people on television. "I put the idea to her . . . 'Do you want to be a supermodel?'" he recalled to Jericka Duncan during an interview. Fast forward to the present, and Daisy-May has now walked in both London and New York Fashion Week and is even an ambassador for LuLu et GiGi.
