Everything We Know About This Year's Met Gala

It's finally time for the New York fashion event of the year: the Met Gala. And even though Anna Wintour reportedly banned selfies from 2015's Met Gala, she and her team are embracing technology wholeheartedly with 2016's very special theme.

The 2016 Met Gala will be held in honor of the Costume Institute's upcoming Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibit, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. According to Vogue, the exhibit will show over 100 pieces of fashion that showcase feats of technology in design.

Appropriately, Apple is sponsoring the exhibit and their Jonathan Ive joins Anna Wintour as two of the four cochairs. The other two cochairs? They would be Taylor Swift and Idris Elba.

Thanks to a trailer for the forthcoming documentary about the Met Gala, The First Monday in May, we now know a little more about the annual event than ever before. The very amusing clip shows the extent to which Anna is actually involved in the night's planning; we see her issuing special edicts such as ensuring that a certain guest not spend the whole night on his cell phone and that the decor not too closely resemble that of a restaurant.

There's clearly a lot to be excited about for next month's event — and we're already looking forward to seeing how the long list of celebrities at the Met Gala will interpret the cutting-edge theme.
