Kate Middleton Picks a Local Designer For Her First Day in India

It's only day one of Kate Middleton and Prince William's brand-new overseas royal tour, and the duchess is already proving her skills in fashion diplomacy. For a series of engagements in Mumbai, India, Sunday that included visiting with cricketers — and even trying out the game herself — Kate selected a gorgeous, multicolored gown from a local designer.

The piece was by designer Anita Dongre, whose brand was thrilled about the duchess's choice and shared many images of the piece on Facebook. The dress, a Jaipur-inspired tunic, is available to shop online. Kate's own dress, though, was modified from the brand's version to be slightly shorter, allowing Kate to show off a pair of her beloved Mint Velvet wedge espadrilles. The team at Anita Dongre was so delighted with Kate's take on their dress that they're now selling a Duchess-inspired version too!
