Spinach, corn, cheese, hummus . . . what these foods have in common is not that they belong on a grocery list but that they've all been recalled this year. The latest grocery-store victim is beef, following a recall of more than 167,000 pounds of ground beef processed at All American Meats Inc. in Nebraska that might contain E. coli.
In an official press release, the USDA listed all affected products. You can tell if your meat is part of the recall by looking at the sell-by date and code number.
The USDA says that "consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase." There haven't been any reported illnesses, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
What a bummer! That brie-stuffed burger is looking pretty good right now, but to be on the safe side, you could always make one of these veggie burgers instead.
