Fans of HGTV's Property Virgins are in for a treat, as host Egypt Sherrod is back with a brand new show! Flipping Virgins takes aspects of Egypt's former program — real estate newbies — and mixes it with the network's newfound love of fixing up old or rundown homes for profit. In short, Flipping Virgins is sure to be a hit. Egypt married Mike Jackson in 2010.
Egypt hosted the HGTV hit Property Virgins for five years.
She worked in radio for many years as well, on the New York City stations WBLS and Power 105.
She is a licensed real estate agent in both in New Jersey and Georgia.
She grew up in Philadelphia, PA, and graduated from Temple University.
About four years ago, Egypt and her family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia.
Egypt says she was quiet as a child. "It took me some time to get comfortable in my own skin," she said.
Egypt is back on TV with a new show called Flipping Virgins, which airs Tuesdays on HGTV. She has experience flipping homes in New Jersey, but at the moment, her personal flipping is on hold. "I don’t have time!" she said.
"I’m a bargain Bertha," Egpyt explained. "If it’s not on sale or clearance, I’m not buying it. I will wait."
Whether it’s painting, sanding, or epoxying the garage, Egypt loves being handy around the home.
She comes from a family of real estate agents and brokers. "They still flip houses," she explained.
Egpyt had to admit she follows Kim Kardashian on Instagram! Egpyt also loves following Ron Ben-Israel from Cake Wars and Porsha Williams from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
If Egypt had to pick her dream dinner, it would be, "Shrimp, crab, lobster, any seafood — except for mussels and clams and squid."
Egypt’s husband is the skilled cook in their home.
Prince once surprised Egypt when she was working in a radio studio! She had dedicated a day’s worth of songs to Prince when he was in town for a New York City concert. It just so happened Prince was listening, and he walked into the studio to say hello. Egypt and Prince hit it off, and he later invited her on stage during his show!
Egypt was in the choir in high school, but says she wasn’t very good. "I was never chosen to sing the lead in the choir, or to sing a solo," she reflected.
She has five dogs! They're named Ace, Pepper, Siber, Dutch, and Newbie.
Egypt is passionate about hitting the gym. "It was my New Year’s resolution," she said. "Every day, no matter what, I’m in the gym."
While covering the Precious junket at the Toronto International Film Festival, Egypt met Oprah! Oprah unexpectedly walked into Egypt’s interviewing suite. "She couldn’t have been more of a girl’s girl," Egypt said.
Egypt has gotten to know Jonathan and Drew Scott through work. "We’ve been Insta-buddies for quite a while," she explained. They also filmed a Christmas special together.
Egypt has a 3-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old stepdaughter.
