A picture is worth a thousand "nopes," at least on Tinder. Basically an online-dating version of Hot or Not, the app asks users to rate potential dates with a "like" or a "nope." After extensive research into the do and don'ts of Tinder for guys, I turned to my Tinder buddy old friend Trey Morgan to research the best and the worst of women's profile pics. No surprise: the women are better at photo selection than the dudes, but we still found plenty of unfortunate choices. Single ladies, listen up: here's what your profile photo says about you. If the only good photo you have is of you cuddling with another guy — even if it's just a friend — it might be worth taking a few new selfies.
We can't help but be intrigued by this woman's tactic: a yummy food photo plus the tagline "I eat carbs."
The accordion might be a better hobby to introduce on the fourth or fifth date. And look like you wanna be here, would ya?
Don't try to look like a supermodel. This Tinderer's natural makeup and cute dress give off a girlie but laid-back vibe.
Everyone is over the duck face: men, women, your mom, the Internet . . . Ditch the Olsen twin look, and just be yourself.
You can't go wrong with natural light and natural makeup, and the earbuds are a nice touch.
No one wants to play private investigator just to figure out which one is Lana. Even if you have a few group photos, make sure your profile pic is just you.
Maybe you have baby fever. Maybe you have a baby. Or maybe you just love babies. But really, no one wants to think about babies right now.
See previous slide: babies and hookup apps don't mix. Childhood photos are cute for #tbt, but on a dating site, it's a little creepy.
Maybe she's in an open relationship. Maybe she's divorced. Either way, posting a photo from your wedding is a little much.
I just don't even know what to say about this.
It is possible to look sexy while also being subtle. This is not one of those times.
See previous slide, re: sexiness. You can look sexy and even pose in bed while keeping it classy.
Costumes are tough to pull off on Tinder, especially clown costumes. A lot of people are really scared of clowns, not to mention three clowns.
I respect that, but since Tinder is all about snap judgments, I don't think the mustaches are doing her any favors.
Props to this woman for forgoing purely sexy costumes for a scary one . . . but scaring people off isn't the goal.
As deep as a puddle? I guess this photo tells us that Ashley can take a cool pic, but this isn't a personality contest.
Unlike the accordion girl, this woman looks sophisticated and chic yet laid-back, like you could bring her as a date to a party and she'd get along just fine.
While her zombie makeup is impressive, it's not exactly the way to woo the dates.
Please, step away from the Instagram filters! Better to look like a human than an alien.
