Joey King's hair at the People's Choice Awards on Sunday didn't have to be too extravagant — her red carpet attire was loud enough. The Kissing Booth actress came to the event dressed in a blood red Robert Wun jumpsuit with a peplum waist, and because her outfit made a bold statement on its own, King's hairstylist for the night saw fit to send her off with a style that looked simple but still had a bit of class.

"I wanted to create something effortless but at same time, keep it edgy and modern to complement [Joey's] gorgeous, textured red outfit," hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos told POPSUGAR. For the show, King wore her hair in a short, wavy bob that Giannetos said was inspired by this year's Bottega Veneta fashion show. "I really admired the simplicity of the hairstyles in the show, yet you can tell each look had a strong personality without feeling too complicated. To be honest, I think one of the most challenging parts of styling is trying to create a simple, effortless look without looking like you've actually tried too hard."

King's "S wave" look was a collaborative effort between Giannetos, her stylist Jared Eng, and her makeup artist Allan Avendaño, all of whom have been working with her throughout her career. Giannetos prepped her hair by washing and conditioning it with Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner ($6) before using the Dove Care Between Washes Brunette Dry Shampoo ($5) for added texture. "The grit from the starch will help hold the shape of the style [and], the brunette tint in the dry shampoo lets me use as much as I need on Joey's brown hair without leaving any white powdery residue," he said.

He then used a flat iron to create S-shaped waves in King's hair before spraying it with Dove Style + Care Extra Hold Hairspray ($11) to keep it in place for the night. Check out King's final hairstyle in the photo above.
