Support These Beauty Brands That Are Giving Back For International Women's Day

Every day is a good day to celebrate women — we can all agree on that. Still, if you're looking for a specific day to be more reflective and intentional with your actions, March 8 is International Women's Day. As with any holiday, there are endless ways to mark the occasion and get involved: making a personal donation; writing heartfelt letters to the most influential women in your life; maybe even rounding up iconic public figures and their incredible contributions in a gorgeous graphic layout on your Instagram feed. You can also shop from your favorite brands and their initiatives, putting your money and support into businesses you love and causes that matter.

On that front, we've rounded up seven beauty brands that are giving back on International Women's Day — and often well beyond — providing essential resources, life-changing funding, and endless support to women around the world. From e.l.f. Cosmetics to Tatcha and beyond, keep scrolling to learn more.

01

e.l.f. Cosmetics

From launching an entire line of mint-themed beauty products to an iconic partnership with Chipotle, e.l.f. Cosmetics is no stranger to showing up and out. This year, the brand is celebrating International Women's Day and Women's History Month with a handful of exciting partnerships and initiatives. Through March 31, it will team up with digital storytelling platform Wattpad for the #EyesLipsFierce Write-a-thon that benefits nonprofit Girls Inc. with a donation up to $10,000. In the UK, the brand will also donate 10 percent of sales, up to £5,000, to mentorship program The Girls' Network.

02

Vitruvi

There's even more to love about Vitruvi's coveted essential-oil diffusers than their self-care benefits and aesthetically pleasing design. The brand is also committed to supporting the causes that matter. As an extension of its new, ongoing partnership with The Body: A Home For Love, a nonprofit empowering Black sexual-trauma survivors through healing wellness programs, Vitruvi will donate 30 percent of sales on March 8.

If you've been eager to try its popular menstrual cups or sustainably made underwear, consider this prime time.

04

L'Occitane

Exclusive for International Women's Day, L'Occitane, purveyor of luxe body- and skin-care products, released its limited-edition Solidarity Hibiscus Hand Cream. Infused with nourishing fair-trade shea butter from Burkina Faso, West Africa, every sale benefits the country's women and girls. One-hundred percent of profits will be donated to fund women-focused projects in key areas like education, microfinance, professional development, and entrepreneurship.

Each purchase benefits the initiative, spread across life-skills education, local female mentorship, material support (i.e. tuition and uniforms), and community engagement opportunities.

06

Philosophy

Now more than ever, mental health matters. Philosophy is one beauty brand stepping up to make a difference with its Hope & Grace initiative. Since 2014, the brand has committed to supporting women's mental health and well-being, allocating a portion of every sale to financial grants for prevention and treatment efforts. The result? Over 1.8 million women supported and $5.4 million donated.

07

Elemis

In the UK, British-based premium skin-care brand Elemis is turning international Women's Day into a nine-day event. March 1-9, it will donate £5 from sales of the Pro-Collagen Rose & Relax duo (including its fan-favorite Hydro-Mist) to youth charity The Prince's Trust.
