Emma Thompson Has a Simple, No-Frills Solution For the #OscarsSoWhite Issue
Given that the Oscars are less than two weeks away, there's still plenty of talk about the show's biggest issue: diversity. It's been a pretty hot issue for weeks — celebrities were pretty quick to pull the trigger and share their personal thoughts about the issue, and SNL even got in on the debate with a pretty daring skit. Even a month after the release of this year's nominations, though, stars are still weighing in. At last week's Evening Standard British Film Awards in London, Emma Thompson offered a pretty hilarious solution to the whole issue. "It's hilarious, but I mean, it's no change there. It's not as if it's ever been awash with people of color. Let's face it. I mean, the Oscars membership is mainly old white men. You know. That's the fact of it. So, I mean, either you wait for them all to die, or kill them off slowly. I mean, I don't know. There's so many options, aren't there?"
