Ariana Grande Responds to Pete Davidson's Post About Being Cyberbullied After Their Split

Pete Davidson is speaking out in the aftermath of his breakup with Ariana Grande. The Saturday Night Live star took to Instagram on Monday to open up about being bullied online over a month after he and the singer called off their engagement.

"I've kept my mouth shut. Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything," he said in a statement. "I'm trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference. Especially in today's climate where everyone loves to be offended and upset it truly is mind boggling." Pete goes on to reveal that he's been getting bullied on social media for the past several months, citing this as part of the reason why he's been so open in the past about his mental health struggles as well as his experience with Borderline Personality Disorder.

"I've spoken about BPD and being suicidal publicly only in the hopes that it will help bring awareness and help kids like myself who don't want to be on this earth," he wrote. "I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won't. I'm upset I even have to say this. To all those holding me down and seeing this for what it is — I see you and I love you."

Ariana responded to Pete's message by posting a side-by-side of his note with a memo of her own on Instagram. "I know u already know this but i feel i need to remind my fans to please be gentler with others," she said. "I really don't endorse anything but forgiveness and positivity. i care deeply about pete and his health." She also reminded viewers to be more aware of what others are going through, adding, "i've learned thru my own mistakes not to be reactive on socials so i do understand. but you truly don't know what anybody is experiencing ever. regardless of what they choose to display on social media or how they may appear in public. i can promise u that." She then ended by sharing her feelings for Pete, saying, "I will always have irrevocable love for him and if you've gotten any other impression from my recent work, you might have missed the point."

Pete and Ariana split in October after announcing their engagement just a few months before. Their breakup (and a semi-shady tweet that followed it) is what inspired Ariana's newest single, "Thank U, Next," in which she name-drops the comedian. The music video for the song, which officially dropped on Friday, features a photo of Pete next to statements like "Sry I dipped" and "I love u always."
