Deborra-Lee Furness Is a Badass, Also Happens to Be Married to Wolverine

The Greatest Showman, the period musical inspired by the life of showman P.T. Barnum, is nominated for three Golden Globes — including one for Hugh Jackman for best actor in a comedy/musical. The actor hit the red carpet on Sunday alongside wife Deborra-Lee Furness, who you may or may not be familiar with.

The pair have been married since 1996 and have two children: son Oscar, 17, and daughter Ava, 12. The two met on the set of Australian television series Correlli, on which Deborra-Lee played the title role of prison psychologist Louisa Correlli. While Hugh has gained a large US audience from his work in, among other things, the X-Men movies, the Les Miserables film adaptation, and his work on Broadway, Deborra-Lee's credits are largely limited to Australian projects and she is also widely known for her philanthropic work.

Hugh and Deborra-Lee's two children are adopted, a choice the couple made after she suffered two miscarriages, so Furness is active in addressing the adoption laws in Australia. She also is a patron for the Lighthouse Foundation, which works with displaced children, and the Advisory Committee for Film Aid International, which works with refugees around the world.

Just prior to their 20th wedding anniversary, Jackman appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and said that his marriage just keeps getting better and better.

"She's the greatest thing that ever happened to me," he said, adding that he's so glad they met before either of them were famous. "I'm kind of really grateful that I met her before anything kind of happened. Everything that's happened in my career and on screen, off screen, we've always done it together."

The two are frequently seen together on the red carpet and at events, so clearly they do support each other in all endeavors.
