A Timeline of Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland's Relationship

Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland went their separate ways in September 2022 after two years of marriage. In a joint statement shared on Instagram, the two revealed their "difficult decision to separate," which they noted was "made with love and mutual respect for one another." Since then, the two have remained mum about their split, though Snow may have hinted at it in a May 2023 interview with Bustle.

Although she didn't cite a specific incident, the 37-year-old actor revealed, "In the past year I went through probably the hardest mental health challenge I've ever faced." She continued, "In one day, in a matter of hours, my life turned completely upside down. I was blindsided and every thing I thought I knew, held sacred and truly trusted in my life was completely different."

Luckily, she had people around her to help her through. "Thank god for my friends," she said. "I don't know if I would have made it without them. They reminded me who I was and the things I stood for. I used all the tools I knew. All of them."

Snow stole fans' hearts as Chloe in the Pitch Perfect franchise and again in 2019's "Someone Great," in which she played cynical Blair Helms. Her ex Stanaland then stepped into the spotlight as one of the Oppenheim Group real-estate agents in Netflix's "Selling the OC," which premiered on Aug. 24, 2022. The "Selling Sunset" spinoff follows the lives and coastal luxe real estate behind Jason Oppenheim's Newport Beach, CA, brokerage.

During season one, Stanaland found himself wrapped up in an office scandal with one of his costars who attempted to kiss him during the show, though the incident wasn't caught on camera. However, it did put a strain on his and Snow's marriage, per a source that told People in September that the ordeal "broke them." Thus, leading the couple to announce their separation.

Snow and Stanaland began dating sometime in 2018 after the latter slid into Snow's DMs. For the most part, they've kept their relationship out of the public eye, that is until Stanaland became a cast member of "Selling the OC."

Ahead, look back at all of the pair's relationship milestones prior to their breakup.

2018: Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland Begin Dating

In 2018, Snow and Stanaland took their bond to the next level — and in the most mainstream way possible: Instagram DMs. "We had a bunch of friends in common, and he actually reached out to me on Instagram with a really lame pickup line," Snow told People. The couple kept their first date casual, opting to grab dinner at a Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood.

"We got tacos after years of being infatuated with one another and forgot how to speak entirely," Stanaland joined in. "There was a certain amount of tequila consumed, and then we just started talking a lot. Then we fell in love and nothing's really changed, we're still eating tacos and margaritas together."

The couple got engaged in early February 2019 but didn't let fans in on the big news until later that month. They wanted some time to "celebrate the old-fashioned way," Stanaland said on Instagram.

"The proposal happened in our kitchen," Snow told The Knot. "Which was the same place we had our first kiss. Tyler, then, had organized a secret engagement party at our favorite restaurant with all our closest friends and family waiting."

July 2019: Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland Briefly Move to NYC

Stanaland briefly traded the West Coast for the Big Apple. The couple gave People an inside look at their newly renovated Greenwich Village apartment in October 2019; but based on Stanaland's Instagram, it appears they'd already been living in NYC for about three months at that time.

"Even though we're from different backgrounds... we gravitate toward the same things stylistically," Stanaland told the outlet. "So for us, there wasn't as much conflict; it was a pretty seamless process."

Snow added that the loft's floating bookshelves were what sold her on the property. "I'm a huge fan of decorating bookshelves," the "Pitch Perfect" actor said. "Even when we're watching TV, I get up, go fix something, sit back down and then get up and fix it again. It's fun to make little tweaks and to make it our own."

When it came time to plan their bachelor and bachelorette party, the pair knew they wanted one ginormous, joint celebration. "I always thought it was very strange when — I understand why people want to do different days because they want to let their hair down. But for me, I feel like I'd miss you," Snow told Us Weekly at the time.

The two-day extravaganza included a day just for the bridal party (which we refer to as the Barden Bella reunion). Snow and team bride met up with Stanaland and his friends the following day for a joint party. "I just want to celebrate with my best friend," Stanaland told the outlet.

March 2020: Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland Get Married

In March 2020 — just mere days before the world went into lockdown due to COVID-19 — the couple tied the knot in an intimate, outdoor ceremony in Cielo Farms in Malibu. Similar to their very first date, the couple wanted to stay local and feast on their favorite things: tacos and tequila. Their dog Bille Jean took on the role of flower girl. She donned a flower collar that matched her mom's bouquet.

"I got to look at Tyler, take his hands, and I've never felt more safe," Snow told The Knot of her favorite moment from the wedding. "I wasn't nervous at all. It was all about us talking to each other and telling each other our hearts. It was perfect."

As for Stanaland, his favorite moment was the reading of the vows, which they wrote themselves. "The most memorable thing was staring into her eyes and giving my vows. There were 100 people there watching but it felt like it was just us," Stanaland said.

September 2022: Brittany Snow and Tyler Stanaland Announce Separation

Less than a month after Stanaland appeared in season one of Netflix's "Selling the OC," the pair announced via joint statements that they were separating after two years of marriage. "After time and consideration, Tyler and I have made the difficult decision to separate. This decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another," Snow wrote in an Instagram post. "We have realized we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives. We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter."

The couple's separation news came shortly after a source told People their relationship was "fully over." "All of the girls [on the show] are obsessed with him," the source added. "He's been trying to be really respectful but it's taken a toll on his marriage 100 percent."

The source also claimed that Stanaland being on the show "broke them" and said Snow "never wanted Tyler on ['Selling the OC'] but he was adamant." "He wanted to make a name for himself on his own terms," they added.

Their divorce was finalized in July 2023, according to People.
