Emma Laird Shares Photo of Smiling Costar Joe Alwyn After Taylor Swift Split

Joe Alwyn hasn't spoken out since news broke on April 8 that he and long-time girlfriend Taylor Swift had split, but celeb watchers have their first photo of him since the split, courtesy of one of his new costars. On April 11, Deadline announced the cast for the new film "The Brutalist," which is filming now in Hungary. The movie includes Alwyn, Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, and Emma Laird. On April 18, Laird shared a photo dump from March of photos from set on Instagram, including a show of a clean-shaven Alwyn, 32, smiling on a scooter.

It's not clear when exactly the photo was taken, just as it's not clear when exactly Swift, 33, and Alwyn broke up. One of the couple's last sightings was at Swift's 2023 Grammys afterparty in early February. Swift also referred to her relationship with the "Catherine Called Birdy" actor during the promotion of her 2022 album "Midnights" and implied several of the songs were inspired by their relationship. Swift is currently on her Eras Tour, and while she's alluded to the breakup news during her shows, she hasn't blatantly addressed the situation. She has been spotted out and about in New York City a few times since the split news broke.

As for Alwyn, it seems he's in Hungary for the time being. He's been quiet on Instagram, but he rarely posts to begin with. After Laird, 24, posted the photo, her comments were swarmed with Swift fans who accused the actor of being in a relationship with Alwyn (and some other fans who were telling the others to stop), and she ended up turning off her comments, per Billboard.

Laird, who is Scottish, is best known for her work on Paramount+'s "Mayor of Kingstown." She also stars in this fall's "A Haunting in Venice," another one of Kenneth Branagh's Agatha Christie films. She also stars this summer's "The Crowded Room" on Apple TV+ with Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried.
