Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Are Still Sharing French Fries

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder split in 2013 after three years together, but there's been no bad blood postbreakup. This was evident earlier this year when they shared a sweet kiss at the People's Choice Awards and looked friendly at PaleyFest, and now both Nina and Ian are opening up about their amicable split in the August issue of Nylon, which hits newsstands July 30.

Nina revealed: "I don't like any kind of negativity. I try to be good to everyone, whether it's a love, a friend, an ex. I'll always try to treat people the way I want to be treated." When asked about their relationship now, Ian told the magazine, "She always lets me have the last fry." He also had fun things to say about their onscreen relationship — or at least about how evil she can be as Elena on The Vampire Diaries. "[She's] learned how to access the evil in herself — the evil that resides in everyone. She always wants to do her own stunts. Sometimes they let her; sometimes they don't."

When it comes to Nina's future on the series, she admitted that she doesn't want it to be the only thing she's known for. "When I signed on at 20, I knew I'd be 26 when I got off. Not that I was afraid that I would be old . . . I love the show, but I don't want to be defined by just the show." She stepped out of her comfort zone for the upcoming Let's Be Cops with Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson and said the experience was terrifying. "I can get to an emotional place and start crying, but there's pressure when you think you have to be funny . . . you really have to be uninhibited and fearless."

For now, she's dealing with fame — "I always get uncomfortable when people know more about me than I know about them" — and staying down to earth. "It still feels like I'm a fan, in a way," she says of Hollywood. "A lot of people are very cynical and very jaded, but I'm not there yet." Source: Nylon / Silja Magg; Front Page
