Why the Internet Is Totally Overreacting About Justin Bieber's Today Show "Fit"

Justin Bieber stopped by the Today show on Thursday, where he performed his new song "What Do You Mean?" and continued to rock that crazy-long, superblond hair. Before the show cut away to commercial, Justin complained about the camera placement during his song. In the wake of the appearance, many were quick to point out that Justin "threw a fit" after his performance, not realizing his microphone was still on. Admittedly, Justin hasn't done a lot to win fans over in the past few years, but something about the whole ordeal isn't sitting quite right. Before we launch into our counterpoint, watch it for yourself here.

OK, first things first: yes, he's clearly upset. In case you missed what he was saying, or couldn't quite figure it out, consult the next GIF.

So, Justin's unhappy. One might even say the way he approached this situation is a little passive aggressive. But it's worth mentioning that he doesn't really raise his voice. He's not stomping around, screaming, or crying. He's pretty calm, and he's expressing discontent about something. Not an ideal way to handle the situation, but surely not a hissy fit. See the rest of what he says in the following GIF.

Even if we stop focusing on the definition of what "throwing a fit" actually means (to become extremely excited or angry), it's still kind of unfair to take this whole moment out of context.

We have to remember that Justin is an artist. Perfection and specificity are important when it comes to personal work and self-expression. If he's been working hard on his appearances and performances, it's understandable that he'd be upset when an aspect of it didn't go the way he'd planned.

It's also worth noting that there is no background information to supplement this exchange. It's entirely possible that Justin had talked to the cameraman beforehand or requested more room to properly execute his choreography. Let's all take a deep breath and cut him some slack.
