Brad Pitt stepped into the role of Dr. Anthony Fauci during Saturday Night Live's at-home airing on April 25. The doctor, who is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is one of the lead members of the United States government's coronavirus task force. On SNL, a wig-wearing Pitt had a lot to discuss, including whether it's safe to intake disinfectants to treat COVID-19 (full disclosure: it's not), a subject that's been broached by President Donald Trump.

"When I hear things like the virus can be cured if everyone takes the Tide Pod Challenge, I'll be there to say, 'Please don't,'" Pitt said. At the end of the sketch, the actor took a moment to express gratitude for the real Fauci. "Thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time," he said. "And thank you to the medical workers, first responders, and their families for being on the front line." Fauci foreshadowed Pitt's casting earlier in the month during a CNN interview. When asked who he'd want to portray him in an SNL skit, there was no hesitation as he answered, "Brad Pitt, of course." And voila, here we are.
