What We Know About Steve Howey's Love Life

Steve Howey landed small roles on TV throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s before ultimately securing the recurring role of Van Montgomery on the WB sitcom "Reba" from 2001 to 2007. Howey's role on "Reba" helped propel him into the spotlight, which led to his performances in films like "Bride Wars" and shows like "Psych" in the mid to late 2000s. Arguably, Howey is most known for his role as Kevin Ball in the acclaimed Showtime series "Shameless," which he starred in from 2011 to 2021. Up next, Howey is starring in the CBS action series "True Lies," which premieres on the network and Paramount+ on March 1.

Outside of his lengthy acting career, though, Howey has maintained a private personal life. The actor's only public relationship has been with fellow actor Sarah Shahi, whom he was married to from 2009 to 2021. Following his divorce from Shahi, Howey appears to be single and focused on his career at the moment, though he and Shahi maintain a positive relationship for the sake of their three children, William, Violet, and Knox.

Ahead of the premiere of "True Lies," here's everything we know about Howey's relationship with Shahi over the years.

Howey met Shahi when she appeared as a guest on "Reba" back in 2004, as reported by CBS. Three years after the two crossed paths, Howey and Shahi got engaged in June 2007, and two years after that, the couple said "I do" in Las Vegas in February 2009, according to Us Weekly.

Just a few short months after their wedding, Howey and Shahi welcomed their first child, William Wolf Howey, in July 2009. Six years after the arrival of their son, the pair had twins Violet Moon and Knox Blue, on March 1, 2015. Howey later explained to People in 2020 that having a trio could be overwhelming sometimes, but regardless of how busy it could be, he and Shahi would always make time for one another. "It can be overwhelming...But Sarah and I work really hard now to schedule workout time together. Or we'll run to the kitchen and do a tequila shot really fast — just do something together. Then it's right back into the playroom or changing a diaper," he told the outlet.

In May 2020, Shahi filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, per Us Weekly. "As we enter into this new phase of our lives, our priority will remain co-parenting our children with so much love, mutual respect and friendship. And though our relationship is changing, we are committed to continuing our lives as a loving family," the former couple said in a joint statement to the outlet. Their divorce was ultimately finalized in April 2021.
