Matt LeBlanc Talking About Rachel's Trifle on Graham Norton

This "Fun" Fact About Rachel's Meat Trifle on Friends Might Make You Lose Your Lunch

One of the most hilarious (and disgusting) scenes in all of Friends history has to be in "The One Where Ross Got High," when Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) attempts to make dessert for everyone on Thanksgiving. Due to two pages of her cookbook getting stuck together, she accidentally whips up half a dessert dish and half a meat dish, and voila: the infamous meat trifle was born.

During Matt LeBlanc's recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the actor — who played food-loving Joey Tribbiani on the sitcom — recalled a story that will make you feel a little queasier than usual about the scene.

"There's a really funny story with that," he said, chuckling. "It was this meat trifle with whipped [cream], really nasty. But what we were actually eating was not that. Storywise, it was just whipped cream and some bananas or something." He went on to explain how Ross decides to eat the actual trifle in the episode so he doesn't hurt Rachel's feelings, but actor David Schwimmer started laughing during the take so they cut.

"As we were cutting, he kind of spits it back on his plate . . . I didn't see him spit it back on the plate, so I take his plate and go 'Give it to me,' and scrape some on my plate . . . and then we [start filming again], but now I'm eating it. We finished the take, and no one said anything to me!"

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the story of how Matt LeBlanc ate chewed-up, spit-covered trifle. Sadly, he neglected to mention if it actually tasted like "feet" or not.
