Tea With the Dames: 4 of Your Favorite British Aunties Throw Shade, and It's a Must Watch

There are few things we've seen more delightful than Dames Maggie Smith and Joan Plowright throwing light shade at Dame Judi Dench. The legendary actresses, with the addition of Dame Eileen Atkins, are the focus of Roger Michell's new documentary, Tea With the Dames.

The documentary follows the longtime friends as they enjoy a weekend in the countryside to sip tea and reminisce about everything from "art to aging to love to a life lived in the spotlight." The trailer for the upcoming documentary highlights the friendship between the four as they trade quips about their career choices; at one point, Dench says that the dames would work forever if they kept being cast and Smith responds, "But you're always asked first, if I may say so." Even Plowright gets in on it after adjusting her hearing aid, telling Dench that her American agent warns her that Dench usually "has her paws on everything fun."

Honestly, watching the four of them is like hanging with your favorite British aunties, and we could do it for hours. Watch the trailer above and check out Tea With the Dames when it premieres on Sept. 21.
