Frozen 2 Will Include New Songs, and Even More Dazzling Details We Have About the Sequel
Details about Disney's Frozen 2 have been pretty scarce since the film was first announced in 2015, but years later, we finally know more about the highly anticipated sequel. In November 2018, the film's co-director Jennifer Lee revealed that there will be four new songs — and that's not all! We also know the returning cast, the production team, and the official release date. Are you ready to return to Arendelle? See what's in store ahead.
The Returning Cast
Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff are reprising their roles as Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and Kristoff, respectively.
The New Stars
Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown are confirmed to join the sequel. Brown will voice Lieutenant Matthias, with Wood as Elsa and Anna's mother, Queen Iduna.
The Production Team
Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will return as directors. Lee is also writing the script, while Peter Del Vecho will serve as producer.
There are already four new songs in the works for the sequel, and it sounds like one of them just might be the new "Let It Go." "We have a new song that I think is an evolution," co-director Jennifer Lee told Variety. "It's its own song . . . Bobby [Lopez] and Kristen [Anderson-Lopez] just delivered it three weeks ago. We've been working with them for two years and this song just came in and I love it."
Elsa and Anna will really test their limits in Frozen 2. Lee told Variety that the sequel will be "bigger, more epic" than the first and the leading ladies are "going to go far out of Arendelle" this time around.
The Release Date
The film was initially set to hit theaters on Nov. 27, 2019 but will now come out a week earlier, on Nov. 22.
