Who Plays Veronica's Mom in Sierra Burgess? This Is Us Fans Will Know Her Instantly

There's a lot going on in Sierra Burgess Is a Loser — stolen identities, fake love triangles, bullies, self-confidence issues, the revelation that star Shannon Purser has a gorgeous voice . . . the list goes on. Because of all that, you might not have realized that one of your favorite actors from This Is Us actually pops up in the Netflix rom-com in a few brief (and cringey) scenes: Chrissy Metz!

She appears as Veronica's demanding mother, Trish, who's fond of '80s-style tracksuits, bright blue eye shadow, making up stories about her ex-husband, and screaming at and/or demeaning her three daughters (yeah, she's a real treat). The role differs wildly from the lovable Kate Pearson, so it's interesting to see Metz really sink her teeth into the prickly character. If you're not a This Is Us fan, however, keep reading to see where else you've seen the actress over the years!

In the season two finale of This Is Us, Kate finally ties the knot with her longtime love, Toby. Thanks to a flash forward, however, we can expect their relationship to run into a few devastating hurdles.

Pooh Cat in The Last O.G.

Metz appears in one episode of Tracy Morgan's The Last O.G. as a jilted, trash-talking ex of Tray's who goes by the name "Pooh Cat." When she finds out that he left prison without telling her, she hilariously sets out to track him down and force him to keep his promises.

Ima "Barbara" Wiggles in American Horror Story: Freak Show

Remember the fifth season of AHS? Well, then you probably also recall Metz's role as Barbara Wiggles, unfortunately and un-politically correctly referred to as the Fat Lady. As she explained to Glamour last year, she thought the role would be her big break.

"In 2014 American Horror Story came up. I'd wanted the role of Ima [Barbara] Wiggles desperately, and after I got it, I thought, OK, awesome, this is a jumping board for my career! But when it wrapped, there was . . . nothing," she explained. "I almost moved back to Florida, but my mom said, 'You can either be miserable here and not pursue your dreams, or you can be miserable in LA and at least pursue what you want.' So I stayed . . . I am so grateful that I had such an amazing support system, but when I booked This Is Us, I had 81 cents in my bank account. I could cry right now just thinking about it."
