If you're a fan of drama, then you're going to have a great start to the new year, because Netflix is bringing all the drama in January. The streaming service is kicking off the year with eight new original movies, including drama flicks from Taiwan, Japan, Spain, Belgium, and — in his first Netflix original — actor, writer, producer, comedian, and director Tyler Perry. As seven of these eight new premieres are foreign films, you may not recognize many actors, but great dramas can be appreciated in any language. Here are the first eight new movies Netflix is debuting in 2020.
In this Spanish drama, a charming nurse and expectant father named Mario finds himself caring for a well-known narco, whose illness is making him totally dependent on Mario (and totally dependent on his children to control the cartel).

In Tyler Perry's first original movie for Netflix, a woman (played by Crystal Fox) tries to keep her composure when her ex marries his mistress and her adult son moves away, and though she thinks things might turn around when she meets a handsome new man, he only ends up driving her to madness and, eventually, murder.

This Taiwanese drama tells the story of two sons — A-Hao, who's bound for a top medical school, and A-Ho, a delinquent who's just been placed in a juvenile detention center — and their parents' struggle to keep the family together.

This Japanese drama revolves around Yuma Takada, a talented young artist with cerebral palsy who wants to make her name in manga and gain independence, despite her mother's insistence on keeping her close.
