Yes, There Is a Postcredits Scene in Tomb Raider, and It's Worth Every Extra Minute

Warning: Spoilers for Tomb Raider ahead.

By now you've probably become accustomed to staying put in your seat after every movie just in case there's a postcredits scene you weren't aware of โ€” thanks, Marvel! Luckily, we have the scoop on whether or not there's a postcredits scene in the Tomb Raider reboot so you don't have to wonder.

The short answer is yes, there is. Fortunately, it happens almost immediately after the movie ends, so you won't have to wait around too long. In the film, Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) finds herself in need of cash and ends up pawning off the sentimental pendant her archaeologist father, Lord Richard Croft (Dominic West), gave her as a child. There's a hilarious moment of back and forth banter between Lara, pawn shop owner Max (Nick Frost), and his wife, who deducts her payout to only a couple thousand dollars. Luckily, it's just enough to get her to the island of Yamati, which is where her missing father has been all this time.

While there, Lara eventually defeats her father's rival, archaeologist Mathias Vogel (Walton Goggins) and resolves to complete her father's unfinished mission in tracking down the corrupt Trinity organization. This brings her back to the same pawn shop in the postcredits scene. Now flush with the Croft family fortune, Lara returns to buy back the heirloom she pawned off earlier in the film. From the corner of her eye, she spots firearm in the back of the pawn shop and we witness the hero purchasing her first set of silver pistols. Yes, the same weapons she is famous for using in the video games.

Armed with both her precious pendant and her new weapons, Lara is truly ready to go after Trinity, which holds more personal meaning now that she knows its leader is actually close family friend Ana Miller (Kristin Scott Thomas). Sounds like we have plenty of action to look forward to, right? Bring on the inevitable Tomb Raider sequel!
