Sam Smith Passionately Dedicates His Oscar to the LGBT Community Around the World

Sam Smith took home the award for best song at the Oscars on Sunday night for Spectre's "Writing's on the Wall," where he gave a very passionate acceptance speech alongside songwriter Jimmy Napes. "I want to dedicate this [award] to the LGBT community all around the world," he said. "I stand here tonight as a proud gay man and I hope we can all stand together as equals one day." Although Smith claims he was the first openly gay man to win an Oscar (which he wasn't), his speech is still a must watch. Check out his important moment above and watch his performance!
