The Reason This Boy Is Running a Lemonade Stand Is Not What You'd Expect

Nine-year-old Tristan Jacobson's first "business" — a lemonade stand — didn't start out of his desire to raise some pocket money to buy toys, like it would for other children. For this young boy in foster care, the money he raises from selling cold drinks to his neighbors could mean finally being officially adopted into the loving family he's already very much a part of.

The original goal — to make the $5,000 that would cover the adoption costs — was well surpassed after the neighborhood caught wind of Tristan's venture. Donnie Davis, the boy's foster mother, is touched to see how many people have come out to support Tristan, a boy she has cared for on and off since he was 3 months old. "I never thought it would become what it was. I honestly never thought I would make $5,000," she told Today Parents.
