See Why Everyone's Talking About That Baby Scene in American Sniper

If you were one of the millions of moviegoers who saw American Sniper last weekend, you undoubtedly left the theater touched by Bradley Cooper's Academy Award-nominated performance and Chris Kyle's moving autobiography. But any parent who has ever held a baby probably also caught the biggest blooper of the film — a fake baby in one of the most dramatic scenes.

No, your eyes were not deceiving you when Cooper and Sienna Miller passed what is supposed to be the Kyle's newborn daughter between them. The baby that Cooper grunts as he lifts and bounces up and down is none other than a doll that was used when the hired actors couldn't fulfill their duties. According to a since-deleted tweet from the film's screenwriter, Jason Hall, the fake-out wasn't planned. He wrote, "Hate to ruin the fun but real baby #1 showed up with a fever. Real baby #2 was no show. (Clint voice) Gimme the doll, kid."

But leave it to an Oscar-nominated actor to try to make the best of the situation. Watch how Cooper attempts to make the baby look real by moving the doll's arm with his thumb while rocking "her." For a nondad, he's certainly got the move down!
