Jamie Otis Announces Her Rainbow Baby's Gender at 21 Weeks

Update: On April 25, at 21 weeks into her pregnancy, Jamie Otis announced via People's Instagram that she and her husband, Doug Hehner, are having a baby girl. "I am so thrilled to shout it from the rooftops!" Otis wrote in a post to her own Instagram. "I'm going to be a MOMMY to a precious baby girl!! Get ready for all the Mommy and Me matching outfits and twinning! I cannot contain my excitement — I was so shocked and I'm just SO, SO, SO happy!!! I could go on and on about how incredibly stunned/excited/blessed/thankful I am . . . there are just no words to how I am feeling."

Original Story: Six months after losing their first child, Jonathan Edward, Jamie Otis and her husband, Doug Hehner, announced that they're expecting a rainbow baby in August 2017. Although Otis is a reality star known for being on The Bachelor and Married at First Sight, she became even more of a household name when she openly shared the devastating details of her miscarriage back in October with a blog post and photo on Instagram.

Some were surprised at the time over Otis's choice to feature a photo of her son, born stillborn last July at just four months gestation, but she boldly chose to use her experience to support and inspire other women who have and will go through a miscarriage.

"I want to say sorry if this offends you," she wrote in October. "However . . . I hope by me sharing my sweet boy, Johnny (as Doug and I call him), you'll realize that he's a harmless, helpless baby who deserves to be remembered, not hidden away because his image may offend someone. And if you've lost your baby early, please know that you're not alone."

Now, six months after her miscarriage and just over a month after Jonathan's official due date, Otis and Hehner have taken to Instagram with their happy pregnancy news. Otis posted a sweet photo of her and her husband, a rainbow and footprints painted onto her belly and a balloon in Hehner's hand that reads: "Hand-picked for Earth by my brother in heaven."

"We are PREGNANT!!! Our sweet Baby Hehner is due this August," Otis wrote. "We love [Jonathan] so much and are so happy to know he's looking down from heaven taking care of his little sister/brother."
