Every Parent Must Read How Kelly Clarkson Is Preparing Her Toddlers For the Real World

Kelly Clarkson has one adorable family, and although we frequently see their precious moments on social media, the singer opened up about exactly how she's raising her children, and you're going to want to do the same. It's 2017, and we're not going to lie, the real world is scary, so the singer is doing whatever it takes to instill strong values in her children, 3-year-old daughter River Rose and 18-month-old son Remington Alexander. At Variety's Power of Women event, Kelly told People that it's never too early to teach your kids about standing up for themselves.

"I said, 'You tell mommy if somebody does anything inappropriate. You stand up for yourself,'" Kelly said. "Even from a young age, I think you should instill that people, your children, should always stand up for themselves or speak out when something is wrong."

But Kelly said it best: it's not only about the children themselves, it's about understanding the situations around you and speaking up if something doesn't look right. She is raising River Rose to be a confident and capable young girl — dare we say "Miss Independent"? — and it's so important for all of us to do the same.

She added, "I think if we start it at that young age, and you start molding people and growing to these very elevated individuals that help elevate society. It's a really crucial time when you have children right now."
