Nature's Path Just Recalled More Than 400,000 Boxes of Cereal — Here's What Parents Should Know

U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Eek! According to an announcement from the US Food and Drug Administration, Nature's Path Foods is recalling more than 400,000 boxes of gluten-free cereal. The reason? It turns out there may be some traces of "undeclared gluten" after all.

Concerned parents should double-check any boxes from the EnviroKidz line — including Choco Chimps, Gorilla Munch, and Jungle Munch — to see if they have the specific "Best Before" dates that have been recalled.

"The error was isolated to one facility and due to air contamination as a result of incorrect production scheduling," said the notice. Overall, only five percent of EnviroKidz products were affected.

Wendy Kubota, the communications director for Nature's Path Foods, said that the brand is going into overdrive when it comes to testing any future products. "We are moving our gluten-free testing from twice per shift to hourly to ensure this does not happen again," she explained.
