The Surprising Reason Nobody Believes These Twins Are Even Related

"What would you do if one came out dark and the other was fair?"

This was a question asked by friends as soon as Hannah Yarker and Kyle Armstrong found out that they were expecting twins. Kyle, who is mixed race, is darker than Hannah, who is white. While the couple laughed at the joke, they never imagined that it could actually happen.

But when Hannah and Kyle's 10-month-old twin girls were born, it was easy to see that the babies aren't identical — people often don't even believe that they're related. Anaya has white skin like her mother, and Myla has her father's darker skin tone.

"Our girls turn heads wherever they go," said Hannah. "I can't walk down the aisle at the supermarket without getting stopped."

When the babies were first born last April, the difference in their skin tone was less pronounced. But now that the girls are nearing their first birthday, their coloring is just one of their many differences. Myla is the active baby who's always on the move, while Anaya is much more laid-back.

"We can't believe they're twins — they've got the same birthday and the same mum and dad but they're just complete opposites in every way," Hannah added.
