When you decide to let your little one dress themselves for the first time, you know it's going to be a wild ride!

From tots asserting their independence and deciding that a shirt can be a skirt, to munchkins getting frustrated when they can't get the shoe on the right foot, letting kiddos learn how to dress themselves can be both messy and hysterical. As toddlers figure out how to tackle this next stage, parents are often left to help their tiny humans with the struggle of learning which arm goes into which hole. This video of toddlers picking out their own outfits and clothing captures both the comical and heartwarming side of letting your kiddos turn into minifashionistas. Here are five things we learned from their hilarious experience:

  1. You can never have too many accessories.
  2. A little encouragement can go a long way.
  3. Pants can also make for a fabulous hat.
  4. Sometimes one sock is enough.
  5. Be grateful that the pants are on — even if they're backwards!
