Hilary Duff Shared an "Extremely Personal" Video From Her Home Birth, and We Just Collectively Gasped
It's been five months since Hilary Duff gave birth to her baby girl, Banks, and she's celebrating by giving her fans a rare look into her home birth experience.
"I've been wondering for a long time if I would ever share this video as it is extremely personal," she wrote in a caption alongside a clip of her holding her newborn baby moments after giving birth in an inflatable pool in her own home.
In the video, Hilary is holding Banks when all of a sudden, the baby seemed to reach her tiny arms up to her mom. "It was so absolutely lovely and rewarding — and shocking — that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged . . . for the first time," Hilary recalled. "In my mind, I like to believe that she was saying, 'Good job, Mom.'"
She also took the opportunity to thank those present that day, including her partner Matthew Koma.
"Go, team, go. We did it. Together," she wrote. "Matt provided such a safe, calm strength, my mommy and sissy were there to cheer me on, and of course my birth angels to make sure all was well and big brother (downstairs deep in Legos)."
She marveled at how she "cannot believe this day was only five months ago" because "it seems like B has been here with us all along."
Although she delivered her first child, 7-year-old Luka, in a hospital, she seems to be beyond happy with her home-birth experience. "Feeling blessed for this full hectic life and all the people in it."
