How This Couple Prepared to Welcome Twins – With a Little Help From Their Ancestors

When Anastacia Kasmer and her husband Marcel learned they were having twins, they thought it was the perfect time to learn more about their family history. So the expecting parents turned to Ancestry® and AncestryDNA®.

Ancestry provided some much needed context for Anastacia — and there were even some other surprises. "We were ready to grow our family. What we weren't expecting were twins," says Anastacia, "and the first thing my mom said to my dad was, 'twins run in your family.'" Turns out, Anastacia discovered that twins actually run on both the maternal and paternal sides of her family.

"Having the opportunity, and what I've now learned and what I've been able to find through Ancestry, seeing photos, seeing documents have been extremely impactful and powerful," she says. "I think it has more meaning now, because I'm growing my family, and just feeling the connection that I didn't have at all growing up."

Inspired by what she and her parents learned from Ancestry records as well as her AncestryDNA test results, Anastacia and Marcel created a gift for their twins and 19-month-old son Maël — a gallery wall with photos, documents, and artifacts that tell the stories of the generations that came before them.

Anastacia has the nursery ready for the new boy and girl on the way. "They're going to know their origin story from day one," she says.
