You'll Say the New Wrinkle in Time Barbies Are For Your Kids, But We Know the Truth

Let's be honest: the latest offering from Barbie is entirely for us. Sure, we'll let our kids look at them, but, sorry, they are going to stay in our rooms.

Yep, we're talking about the Wrinkle in Time Barbie collection just announced by Mattel ahead of the film's theatrical release on March 9.

We don't know what we love more — the brand's continued work toward more diversity in its dolls or simply seeing some of our most beloved fictional characters come to life.

The dolls — each retailing for $50, proving it's more of a collector's item than a child's plaything – depict epic witchery warrior trio Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Whatsit from the famed Madeleine L'Engle book, and it's truly a sight to behold.

As the film's director, Ava DuVernay, tweeted of the diverse dolls:

When Disney makes Barbies of your movie's characters and you just want to stare at them all day in disbelief because you loved Barbies as a girl but never had any like these. #WrinkleinTime pic.twitter.com/7PzQsiNoyG

Each of the dolls are pitch-perfect representations of the characters, but it's perhaps the one portraying Mrs. Who – played by Mindy Kaling in the movie — that is truly remarkable. It features not only her true skin tone but natural hair and tattoos (as well as her glasses, of course).
