You'll Want to Consider These Baby Names Even If You Aren't a Star Wars Fan

For expectant parents who also happen to be Star Wars fans, this is quite the time to be alive. With the resurgence of the franchise, we assume the most diehard George Lucas devotee might have a tough time deciding what they are looking forward to more — the arrival of their little one or the impending followup to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

So, when we discovered that the name Jedi had made it onto BabyCenter's official list of the year's most unusual monikers — a roundup of quirky names given to at least three of the 340,000 babies registered with the site — we figured there was undoubtedly a set of parents-to-be who might opt to use the Force when choosing their baby's name.

The latest discovery, however, has us a little concerned: the fastest growing boy's baby name in the U.S. is after the story's villain, Kylo Ren. That's right, the Social Security Administration has released its annual list and jumping 2,368 spots to 901 is Kylo. The year before, it was in the 3,269th slot. Gulp.

From obvious choices (Luke and Leia, of course) to more discreet references to offscreen characters, we've rounded up some options that pay homage to the films without coming off as overtly geeky. (Sorry, but Yoda and Jar Jar aren't exactly subtle.)

After all, the movies have stood the test of time, so we think the following names – even ones after the bad guys – will too.
