The Reason I Am Replacing All My LBDs With Floral Prints
I'm a 20-something Fashion Editor who lives in New York City. It's pretty safe to say that my entire closet is brimming with one color: black. It happened slowly. I graduated from college with a closet full of sorority t-shirts and leggings, plus the occasional sparkly formal dress. I moved to the city with a suitcase full of "business casual" purchases that my mom insisted I needed to make a good first impression at my first job. Now, years later, I opened my closet the other day and was accosted by a sea of black. NO MORE! This Spring, I've made a promise to myself to not buy a single piece of black clothing and instead broaden my wardrobe with something just as empowering but less intimidating: florals. Here's how I'm planning to revamp my closet.
A Trendy Silhouette
When it comes to making new purchases, I love to indulge in a few trendy pieces to supplement my more classic wardrobe. This off-the-shoulder silhouette ($45) has become superpopular over the past few years, but the fresh midi length and peach colored floral embellishments make it the perfect addition to my Spring/Summer closet.
A Bright Color
This marigold yellow dress ($35) is way out of my comfort zone, which means I want it ASAP! It always surprises me how many compliments I get from people when I wear a color that's not usually in my wheelhouse. This hue will work wonders on my Mediterranean skin, plus it's always a good idea to have a fun, festive dress in your closet to pull out for dinner with friends or a last-minute party update.
A New Staple
Yes, you may think I'm cheating with this black jumpsuit, but the floral print was what really drew me to this cami jumpsuit ($37). I already anticipate it being my new work staple. I love that I can dress it up with heels and a blazer, or keep it casual with slides and straw bag.
