Margot Robbie Channels Blue Crush on Her Elle Cover, and the Nostalgia Is Real

Elle | Alexi Lubomirski

With her chameleon-like acting abilities, it's easy to forget Margot Robbie is in fact Australian. Such was the inspiration for the star's easy, breezy cover shoot for Elle's February 2018 issue. Though the 27-year-old actress is typically walking the red carpet in glamorous gowns and blinding jewels, in this editorial, she sports laid-back surf gear, groovy prints, and even a puka shell necklace.

While Margot's oceanside upbringing may have influenced the theme of the shoot, we also couldn't help but feel like it was partly inspired by the early-'00s classic Blue Crush — which is currently getting an NBC reboot, by the way. Does she not look like a dead ringer for Kate Bosworth's Anne Marie Chadwick? See for yourself by checking out the full shoot ahead.
