There's No Way These Runway Looks Aren't Disney-Inspired

When it comes to watching the runways, you know we like to have a little fun. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that we found looks fit for the modern-day Disney princess. Maybe it's the color scheme or the exaggerated sleeves that remind us of such iconic gowns, but we don't think we're too far off. (Just try to tell us this Milly set doesn't remind you of Ariel's scales and shell bra.)

This season's shows have been so colorful, we're expanding our horizons and tapping all our favorite characters, villains included. We dare Cruella de Vil and Sebastian the Crab to try on Christian Siriano's designs. And just wait until you see the Michael Costello number that's fit for Maleficent. Read on to see a handful of high-fashion outfits through this playful new lens.

Belle in Reem Acra

Rather than elegantly draped sleeves, Belle's trying out the poufy style and opting for beadwork and bows rather than dramatic pleating.

Anna in Scotch and Soda

She'll have to strap on a belt and work dreamy bell sleeves rather than a delicate cap style, but we think Anna will love the floral print and patchwork detail of this chiffon maxi.

Cinderella in Monse

Cinderella's slipping into crinkled pants and a silk top. The best part is she doesn't have to abandon her choker.

Elsa in Pamella Roland

All the sparkly embellishments are here in this off-the-shoulder gown, but rather than a cape, Elsa's dazzling with ombré effect.

Ariel in Milly

Ariel's swapping seashells for bows and taking her hemline up a notch. The coolest update here is her foundation of a white tee.

Cruella de Vil in Christian Siriano

Cruella's two favorite shades are obviously black and white, but underneath her coat, the look starts with an LBD.

Jasmine in Christian Siriano

Jasmine isn't swathed in geometric jewels, and she's not making a statement by baring her midriff. Instead, she's playing princess in an intricate turquoise satin set.

Maleficent in Michael Costello

The fascinator that completes this Michael Costello look is totally reminiscent of Maleficent's horns. We're sure she'll take the upgrade from a raggedy cape to a tiered ballgown made of tulle.

Mulan in Custo Barcelona

Mulan's runway look offers a little less coverage, but it's even more eye-catching than her hanfu. The colorblock details are still prominent with this look, but '70s-inspired shades are an added accessory.

Sebastian in Christian Siriano

How could we ignore the diagonal ruffles on this bright orange gown? The shapely silhouette is about as energetic as Sebastian himself.

Tiana in Pamella Roland

As soon as this ornate cape gown debuted on the Pamella Roland runway, we pictured Tiana's lily-pad-like dress. We're sure she'd agree that giving up the crown and elbow-length gloves is a fair trade when you get to work such a standout piece.

Ursula in Christian Siriano

The teal underside of Christian Siriano's tent sheath brought Ursula's tentacles to mind and conjured images of the deep blue sea.

Sleeping Beauty in Prabal Gurung

Prabal Gurung mastered the red carpet gown seasons ago. But now it looks like he's designing pieces easy enough for a slumber. Aurora's well-defined collar gets swapped for exaggerated bell sleeves in this case.
