Kim Kardashian Convinces Us to Wear Robes Out of the House
Kim Kardashian is clearly working hard to make robes an acceptable fashion staple outside the bathroom. First there was the Prada robe she modeled (full frontal, mind you) in the pages of Love magazine. And next, there was the embellished Jean Paul Gaultier version she wore to last night's Grammy Awards.
So, although we're not sure why the reality star is so into loungewear as eveningwear right now, we're willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and see which robes out there could work a little overtime for us. No promises, but we think these 12 options might just have a stylish shelf life well beyond bath time. Source: Getty
Dolce & Gabbana Leopard Satin Robe
Leopard print is always in, and this fierce bathrobe ($1,145) could moonlight as a slinky wrap dress.
La Perla Silver Begonia Robe
The perfect robe for that model-off-duty vibe? This soft jersey robe ($268), with floral lace insets on the sleeves, will add some serious sophistication to any weekend look.
Cosabella Aosta Fleece Short Robe
Robe coats have been an outerwear trend for awhile now, and this dusty blue fleece robe with shawl collar ($198) is a perfect cold-weather option, both inside and outside.
Dita Von Teese Sheer Spotted Robe
If you think a completely sheer robe can't possibly leave the privacy of your bedroom, just imagine this spotted long-sleeve number ($250) over a sexy body-con minidress.
Olivia von Halle Queenie Misora Robe
We are already predicting obi belts to be a major street style must-have accessory this Fashion Week, so this belted kimono-style robe ($1,005) isn't a tough sell.
Agent Provocateur Mistie Fringe Robe
Capitalize on the '70s trend with this oversize floral print devoré-velvet and chiffon robe ($2,590), complete with statement-making fringe.
Oscar de la Renta Robe
If you aren't ready to go full eveningwear with your robe, this two-tone geometric print cotton option ($174) is perfect tied over a pair of jeans.
Donna Karan Glamour Washed Silk Robe
This duster-style robe ($298) looks like liquid gold and would pair nicely with a slinky monochromatic gown.
La Perla Pizzo Open Robe
Want an ultrafeminine take on public-display intimates? This navy lace-trim open robe ($418) is a perfect layering piece.
Lanvin Butterfly Robe
We actually can't imagine why anyone would wear this black-and-white butterfly-print robe ($2,148) as anything but a showstopping dress.
Natori Dynasty Print Robe
If you are looking to really stand out, this colorfully printed floor-length robe ($195) will do the trick. Plus, careful attention to detail – including the red microsatin lining in the billowy sleeves – makes it look as if it were meant for something more than loungewear.
Only Hearts Flocked Robe
This velvety soft short robe ($180) can give much needed dimension to a basic LBD or help tone done a bold frock in a solid color, like cobalt blue or fuchsia.
