The holiday season is upon us, and the art of flawless festive dressing is in session. This year, we're stepping into the world of Old Navy's Dressy and Alpine collections, where glam meets cozy, and the stylishly comedic Natasha Lyonne turns every piece into a party.

Old Navy is painting the town gold, green, and every hue in between with the new holiday campaign. It's a celebration of every mood, occasion, and the festive season's beautiful cluster of events that span dress codes from glamorously festive to cheerfully low-key. And who better to lead this fashionable journey than Lyonne, the queen of New York City and its unapologetic style?

So, how does one not end up looking like a rogue Christmas ornament at this year's holiday parties? "[I like] when things can be multidimensional and meet you wherever you're at," Lyonne tells POPSUGAR of her style philosophy. "I strongly believe in always being a bit business casual, which is the city slicker in me or something." She says she likes when things are a bit more eccentric – outfits that can go from making snowmen in a Manhattan park (which may have a slightly grey complexion) to hanging at a friend's house in the 'burbs to heading out to dinner in the city.

As for specific holiday outfit formulas, Lyonne says, "I like the high-low dressing of a velvet blazer with denim or a striped sweater with a sequin skirt just to up-level an outfit. Maybe I incorporate more of a leather jacket with my sequins or velvet — it just feels very Manhattan to me." For Lyonne, holiday dressing is really all about embracing a Manhattan sensibility — that sequins can work in any setting.

Old Navy's first Dressy Collection is giving Lyonne, and all of us, exactly that — an array of sparkly, yet totally wearable pieces that won't break the bank or make you look like you're trying too hard. It's Lyonne-approved, especially for those impromptu city dates post-holiday parties. "I've always liked that kind of day-to-night vibe of you're prepped for whatever, and that things just mix and match and feel fun and can be in any situation," she says.

Of course, who can deny the allure of sparkle and velvet that seems to dance under the holiday lights? "I do really like that," Lyonne says. "I think it's fun to wear a sequin blazer for no reason into the writer's room or something just to spice up the joint." Old Navy's Dressy Collection is all about bringing that sprinkle of sparkle into everyday life, turning mundane Wednesdays into a glitzy affair, and mixing the extravagant and the understated. "If you go out on New Year's and you're just in jeans and a T-shirt or a regular black blazer or something, you feel a little bit depressed," she says. "The night feels like it has more hope if you have some sparkle or velvet on you."

But let's face it, the holidays are not just sparkles and eggnog; they come with their fair share of chaos. "Holidays can be kind of stressful," Lyonne says. "That's why you download a crossword app, and you take a longer break to the bathroom, and you get lost in there for eight minutes or something." The versatility of Old Navy's new collections offer outfits that are as ready for a glam night out as they are for a retreat into the cozy confines of a quiet nook (yes, even a water closet).

The Alpine Collection plays into the season's sartorial mix as well. These pieces are what idyllic winter snaps featuring cozy corners and frosted windows are made of. Picture this — you're swathed in a fairisle sweater begging for a mountain backdrop or an elegant cable knit that makes chilly mornings much more tolerable. It's the kind of cold-weather attire perfect for everything from sipping hot cocoa during a wintry getaway to a snowy stroll through the streets during holiday shopping. It even pairs well with festive Jingle Jammies. "I feel like at home it'd be really cute to be wearing a sweater with your pajama pants, but now you got to go outside, and you throw a velvet blazer on top of it or something," Lyonne says of the perfect pajama-turned "real" outfit ensemble.

Lyonne is also all for extending the life of what some may consider "seasonally-specific" pieces throughout the year: "You know that feeling when you go into your closet and you're like, 'Why is everything so boring?' And then you see out of the corner of your eye something glinting, and you're like, 'Today's the day.' On all the other days, you [may] want to be invisible and disappear into the city or the environment or whatever and not stand out. But then there's just that one day that, for no reason in October, you're like, 'I think I need something that glitters today [or] I'm not sure I can make it.' Those pieces you do end up wearing them year-round, just broken up as separates."
