The 2000s fashion resurgence is everywhere you turn — on red carpets, TV shows, TikTok feeds, runways. And no one embodies the essence of noughties style more than Paris Hilton. Her meteoric rise to fame was considered a sign of the times; Hilton's catchphrases, paparazzi photos, and over-the-top fashion were all emblematic of the era. From her velour tracksuit collection to her dangerously-low-rise jeans, Hilton owned the definitive 2000s-era wardrobe — and now she's looking back with a one-day pop-up shop with Klarna called "House of Y2K." Debuting in Los Angeles, CA, on Friday, Feb. 24, the three-floor activation will explore the evolution of 2000s shopping trends. It was inspired, in part, by Klarna's December 2022 survey of 1,000 people in the US across Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers, where 45% of respondents said that fashion was much better back in the Y2K era.

The pop-up is centered around Hilton's signature looks from the decade. "It was hard to narrow it down to a few outfits for the pop-up since there were so many fun looks from that era with incredible memories attached to them," the 42-year-old media personality tells POPSUGAR, "like the iconic silver chainmail dress I wore to my 21st birthday party or the denim mini skirt I wore in 'The Simple Life' season one promo with Nicole [Richie]."

The pop-up shop also coincides with the launch of a limited-edition tracksuit with net proceeds going to Hilton's nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact, a charitable organization created to defend women's and children's rights worldwide. "The velour tracksuit is so iconically Y2K, and since the campaign is about how Klarna has helped shopping evolve, we also wanted to launch an upgraded version of the tracksuit," Hilton explains. "Since the 2000s were all about trying new styles and playing with fashion, we had to add tons of sparkles for a major statement piece. Loves it."

Hilton says the tracksuit is the 2000s-inspired style she wears most since welcoming her first child. "I've been spending a lot of time in my favorite staple that doubles as the most comfortable outfit in my closet — velour tracksuits," she reveals.

Ahead, Hilton talks to POPSUGAR about her favorite 2000s fashion trends, the memories attached to her "House of Y2K" outfits, and what she hopes to pass down to her son. Read on for our full interview and keep scrolling to shop the new Paris Hilton x Klarna tracksuit.

On Choosing 2000s Looks to Feature in "House of Y2K"

POPSUGAR: Walk us through your curation process for the iconic looks featured in "House of Y2K." Which factors did you take into consideration when choosing the outfits? Any fun memories attached to them you can share?

Paris Hilton: Yes! It was hard to narrow it down to a few outfits for the pop-up since there were so many fun looks from that era with incredible memories attached to them, like the iconic silver chainmail dress I wore to my 21st birthday party or the denim mini skirt I wore in "The Simple Life" season one promo with Nicole [Richie].

The bags also hold some of my fave memories — the gold metallic monogram Louis was my go-to for a while, and I'll never forget the "Charlie's Angels" photos I shot with Kim [Kardashian] at the beach in Australia because she had a matching version in silver.

PS: What are some of your favorite 2000s trends that are back in style?

PH: There are so many, but I would say my personal faves are all things denim — low-rise jeans and denim minis — the velour tracksuit, and bedazzled and metallic everything.

PS: Which 2000s trend do you think should come back in style that hasn't yet?

PH: Hello Kitty accessories and the colorful slashed flowy skirt — so hot. I love all things Y2K and can't wait to see even more of my fave trends make a comeback. It's wonderful seeing people get creative and put a modern spin on styles from the era that at one point everyone thought weren't cool anymore.

On Her "House of Y2K" Project With Klarna

PS: Why did you want to get involved in the "House of Y2K" project with Klarna? What's the inspiration behind it?

PH: "House of Y2K" is actually a part of my larger global campaign with Klarna spotlighting the iconic Y2K era. The campaign film debuted last week and is focused on showing how shopping has evolved since the early 2000s by calling out some of Klarna's super cool shopping features like flexible payments, shoppable video, and the in-app price comparison feature.

We wanted to bring the Y2K-themed campaign to life and offer consumers an unforgettable experience, so we landed on creating an interactive pop-up that explores the evolution of fashion, beauty, and tech trends since the early 2000s.

PS: What can viewers expect from the pop-up experience overall?

PH: The one-day-only experience will come to life over three floors of glamorous activations and installations, featuring my most iconic looks alongside other decade-defining apparel, beauty, and tech items.

Attendees can expect to be fully immersed in the early 2000s — from displays of old-school tech to Y2K-themed makeovers and bling stations, where visitors can get their hair and makeup done and their favorite tech blinged out.

PS: Tell us about the limited-edition tracksuit you're launching with Klarna. What was the inspiration and what was the design process like?

PH: The tracksuit collab is probably one of my favorite parts of this campaign! It is limited edition, available on parishilton.com, and all net proceeds will be donated to my nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact. The best part is that shoppers can choose to pay for it now, later, or overtime with Klarna.

The velour tracksuit is so iconically Y2K, and since the campaign is about how Klarna has helped shopping evolve, we also wanted to launch an upgraded version of the tracksuit.
