If you're thinking you've seen Michelle Obama's dress before, you're not far off. While the design the first lady wore for the state dinner on Tuesday night in honor of Singapore's prime minister was a custom creation, the designer behind the gown, Brandon Maxwell, has turned out similar looks for another style icon, Lady Gaga.

Seemingly on opposite ends of the style spectrum, the FLOTUS and the performer found common ground with the talented American designer, who has been credited with giving Gaga's wardrobe a sophisticated upgrade. Now Michelle's chic strapless gown is giving us flashbacks to the elegant jumpsuit Lady Gaga wore on the Oscars red carpet. Both pared-down silhouettes feature subtle sculptural details and the same pearl-white hue. While Gaga has given Maxwell's designs a red carpet platform, Michelle's appearance just added him to the select roster of designers worn in the White House.
