Take a Walk on the Wild Side This Spring
From Tory Burch and Anna Sui to more luxury brands like Rosetta Getty, safari-inspired pieces were seen all over the Spring 2019 runways. Utilitarian coats, deep, olive greens and camel tones, and cargo pants were all added to my must-buy list. And now, the time has come to rock the look. Me? I plan on paring a super safari-inspired piece, like an animal print, with something simple and taking the trend less literally. Here are some of the pieces I have my eye on.
Madewell Surplus Cotton Jacket
This olive green surplus cotton jacket ($118) is a toned-down version of a safari jacket, with tons of pockets and a cinched waist.
Topshop Tiger Print Denim Skirt
The exotic pattern of this tiger print denim skirt ($60) is toned down by its casual fabrication, which makes it a great piece for running around in on the weekends.
AFRM Kelsey Thong Bodysuit
I love the ruffle shoulders in this feminine Kelsey thong bodysuit ($69). Wear with a ripped denim skirt for a laid-back Summer look or with straight black pants for a more work-appropriate outfit.
Leith Strapless Striped Jumpsuit
Finding a great Spring/Summer jumpsuit can be like finding a needle in a haystack. The key is always fit, but you get added points for a great pattern, like this strapless jumpsuit ($65) in an ivory snakeskin print.
All in Favor Paperbag Waist Shorts
The camel color of these paperbag waist shorts ($45) have just the right amount of going-on-safari vibes. Pare them back with a loafer and a white button-up, and they're a perfect work short.
Kenneth Cole Camelia Animal Print Ballet Flat
Literally, take a walk on the wild side in a pair of animal print ballet flats ($140). The pointed toe makes them dressy enough to wear with your favorite LBD, but the easiness of them means they're perfect with jeans or leggings, too.
