3 Fun and Easy Trends I Can't Wait to Wear This Summer

Every new season means a new excuse to try new fashion trends. This summer, I'm going for two things that feel right up my alley and one that will feel like a risk for me, which has me excited. While I'll definitely try other trends here and there (I'm not staying away from tie-dye!), this summer I'm committing to neons, polo shirts, and shorts suits, which are three trends I've already been seeing and expect to see more of.

I'm already obsessed with neons, so any excuse to incorporate more into my wardrobe is fine by me. Polo shirts feel like a comfortable and stylish alternative to tees, so bring it on. Shorts suits, however, are not something I ever considered, but this is the summer to go for it. I usually shy away from shorts, but in a city as hot (and fashionable) as New York, the shorts suit is the best way to make a power suit weather friendly. Read ahead to see more and shop these trends.

Polo Shirt

Stylish polo shirts are coming back, and I'm excited to give these shirts another try. I wore plenty of them growing up, but they always felt too sporty, and I didn't know how to wear them any other way. Now I'm in love with the more flattering fits and colorways.

Polo shirts in bright white will be great for summer, because they'll be cooler than their darker-colored counterparts. Wear one as a basic piece in an outfit that's a little more upscale than a tee.

Polo shirts with extra embellishments, like ribbing, some ruffles, or an appliqué add a little flair to your look as well.

Neons

Wearing anything in neon will really make you stand out this summer, and I intend to take full advantage. First step is a neon handbag.

Head-to-toe neon is definitely a bold look, but summer is the time to do it. Whether you combine pieces of the same neon shade or wear one piece like a dress or jumpsuit, this look is a total commitment.

Wearing a layer of neon over another color is a cool way to add pizzazz to a look. You don't have to go neon on neon — you could just do a neon cardigan or jacket.

Shorts Suits

Just because it's summer doesn't mean you still don't need some business casual looks. This summer is all about taking your power suit and making it warm-weather friendly. Suits made of dressy shorts and a matching or complementary blazer are perfect for work or an event. Plus, Bermuda shorts are very in, so turning them into a suit is so on trend.

A full patterned shorts suit will look supersharp when you walk into an important meeting, especially if paired with a great pair of heels.

The length of your shorts is up to you — you could do Bermuda length or something shorter — as long as it matches the proportions of your blazer.
