Creative Ways Active Moms Are Working Out

New moms might find that carving out time to squeeze in a workout isn't realistic. Caring for a newborn comes with a whole host of responsibilities, and by the time many mothers have finally put their babies down for a nap or to sleep, they barely have the energy to do anything. But some moms say that finding small moments for me time is crucial in maintaining a healthy and positive mindset.

More and more, young moms are seeking out mom-friendly workouts as a means to staying fit and feeling their best. See what classes they are taking — and what they're wearing:

Baby boot camp

A huge trend taking over is baby boot camps. Moms all over the country are grabbing their strollers and meeting up with like-minded mamas at local parks and other outdoor spaces. Led by certified fitness instructors, moms are able to do lunges and squats and even jog, all with their children within arm's reach. It's friendly and it's hard, but the best part is that there's no babysitter required.

Classes offered at the YWCA

It's not particularly common to find childcare opportunities at fitness studios, but many local YWCA or YMCA associations in your community provide free child care while you work out in the building. Many moms are changing into their moisture-wicking activewear and heading to class, all while knowing their loved ones are being cared for.

A local "fun run"

If you're looking for an inclusive and upbeat opportunity to get fit in a large group setting, consider signing up for a "fun run" in your community. Most of these runs are untimed and are very family-friendly, allowing you to meet your crew at checkpoints along the way and celebrate with them at the finish line. Some runs even allow you to race with your stroller! If you're running with a stroller, take precautionary measures to make sure your child is safe: your baby should be strapped in tightly, and always be sure run on a safe and clear path.
