Meet the Badass Mom Who Breastfed Her Son During an Ironman Competition

"Here's me nursing my 19 month old son at ironman village this weekend," Katrina Bolduc captioned a now-viral photo of herself breastfeeding on the popular Facebook page Breastfeeding Mama Talk. "This was my first full Ironman - 140.6 miles! I was nervous about nursing/pumping and worried about how my pump would get to and from the two transitions without me getting disqualified from taking something from my husband," she recalled.

Luckily for Kristina, the Ironman staffers were more than supportive of her nursing needs and even made sure she had her pumping gear from T1 to T2. We caught up with Katrina to hear why she felt compelled to share her photo with the rest of the world.

"I believe it is incredibly important to share positive breastfeeding stories like mine for many reasons," Katrina told POPSUGAR. "If we are not out in public breastfeeding our children, no one will see it, and it will not become normalized."

In addition to normalizing public breastfeeding, Katrina said she hopes to be an example to other moms out there by showing that it is possible to accomplish your fitness dreams even after becoming a mother.

"Stay healthy, stay active, be true to yourself and your family, and never let anyone get you down by making you think your ideas, practices, and standards are wrong because they do not align with their own," she said.

"Women are truly incredible, and we need to embrace that," she declared. We couldn't agree more! Here are more photos of Katrina kicking ass and doting on her sweet little boy.
