Read the Courageous Letter a Woman Penned to Her Eating Disorder

Having an eating disorder feels likes an unending obsession with your body, your weight, and your diet. Negative thoughts crowd the mind and affect every single aspect of your life. But this woman found the strength to conquer her eating disorder, and she's taken to Instagram to bravely share this photo of her in shorts that (thankfully) no longer fit. She also shares a brave open letter to the eating disorder that almost took her life.

"To my Eating Disorder: Oh ED.... remember these shorts? When we were together I lived in them. I saw them in the drawer and the memories were all too tempting. They.don't.fit.anymore. In the same way you no longer fit into my life. And the thing is . . . you almost had me. Remembering our life together was painful and enticing. Some days I forget that I'm still getting over you. Here's the thing. I don't want you back. I don't want 'that' body back. I don't want these shorts back. I'll find another pair that I won't have to kill myself to get into next time."

For anyone suffering from an eating disorder, know that you're never alone. Here's the number for the National Eating Disorders Association Hotline: 1-800-931-2237. If you prefer instant messaging with someone, that's also an option.
