"Just Show Up": The Fitness Mantra You Can Borrow From the Notorious RBG

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg may be turning 87, but she still makes fitness a priority. Even though she has one of the most demanding jobs there is, Justice Ginsburg works out twice a week with her personal trainer Bryant Johnson, ACE, MFT, author of The RBG Workout and member of The Vitamin Shoppe Wellness Council.

Her workouts focus on strength and flexibility, but just because she's in her 80s doesn't mean they are easy — Stephen Colbert even had a tough time keeping up. And while it would be easy for Justice Ginsburg to skip her workouts, Bryant told POPSUGAR that she has a mantra that keeps her motivated.

"My mantra for the justice is to 'just show up,'" he said. "When it comes to working out, showing up is part of the battle. The Justice always shows up for training and gives it her very best. One time, she told me she left a White House dinner early to make it to our training session."

She's had this same work ethic for the nearly 20 years they've been training together. She went from barely being able to do a push-up on her knees when they first started to doing 20 full push-ups in a row. She also does planks, pistol squats, leg lifts, and bench squats with a medicine ball.

"No matter what your situation is, small gains can lead to big victories," Bryant said. "The justice has faced every challenge, from fighting cancer two times to working one of the most challenging jobs there is, and she always makes time to work out and give it her all."

Justice Ginsburg is all the fitspo we need to hit the gym and crush it!
