White Chocolate Peppermint Latte Recipe
This Cozy White Chocolate Peppermint Latte Recipe Is Made For Sipping by a Fireplace
If you've been drinking hot chocolate all December long, you might be looking to switch up your go-to winter beverage. Well, allow us to introduce you to the white chocolate peppermint latte.
Concocted by journalist and cookbook author Liz Moody, this cozy drink is naturally caffeine-free, so you can drink it as a nightcap without disrupting your sleep. Or, if you need a jolt of energy on Christmas morning, you can swap half of the milk for strong coffee.
The white chocolate flavor of this decadently creamy recipe comes from cacao butter — Moody gets hers online or from Whole Foods and prefers the Navitas Organics brand. And of course, peppermint extract brings a seasonal candy cane flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 cups of unsweetened milk of your choice
- 3 1-inch square pieces, or 4 tablespoons melted, cacao butter
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- ¾ teaspoon of peppermint extract
- Optional: 1 tablespoon of grass-fed collagen
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- Pinch of fine grain sea salt
As Moody explained in her directions, you first heat the milk and cacao butter in a small pot over medium heat. You want to make sure it is warm throughout, but not too hot. Next, Moody instructs, you pour the milk and cacao mixture into a blender and blend with the honey, peppermint extract, vanilla extract, salt, and optional collagen. This will create the signature foamy latte texture. Once it is frothy, pour the drink into a mug and serve with red and green sprinkles for some festive flair.
